This year, I bought full-size candy bars to hand out. Last year, in my grief, I failed to think about the fact that we would get trick or treaters in our new home. So, after the 5th trick or treater last year, I scrambled throughout the house looking for packaged food to hand out. Raisins, croutons, fruit snacks that I reserved for my daughter’s lunches. So, to make up for the craziness of last year, I handed out the big stuff. I loved hearing the squeals of delight as I offered the tray and said simply, “Take one.”
My daughter is older now, so gone are the days of rushing her through festivities to split with her dad. This year, she chose to trick or treat with her amazing group of friends.
